GOT QUESTIONS?
Here are the answers to some of the questions I’ve been asked or you might find useful
Q: Who designs your patterns?
A: I do. You can read more about me and Suzanne Ellsmore Designs here.
Q: How do I become a test knitter for your patterns?
A: I will post on my social media when I am looking for test knitters. The post will advise how you can apply.
Q: I think I've found an error in one of your patterns. What do I do?
A: Please get in touch and I'll be happy to help. My patterns are tested and edited, but sometimes errors can still slip through. You can send an email to goneawool@outlook.com or you can send me a DM on Instagram @goneawool
Q: What does your Pattern Support cover and not cover?
A: It covers queries regarding potential errors in the pattern as well specific pattern queries and advice. It does not cover reworking the pattern to suit your requirements or providing bespoke instructions or videos. All instructions are already provided and links to videos, where available, are on the specific pattern page on my website.
Q: Do I have to use your recommended yarns when I knit your patterns?
A: Absolutely not! The yarns I recommend, the quantity required and the needle sizes I use are based purely on my experience from designing then knitting the pattern samples and therefore only provide a guide. However, when using a different yarn you should consider the following:
Is the yarn comparable is terms of fibre content, yarn weight (grams/meter) and characteristics? Remember the key is to look at the number of metres/yards of yarn required rather than the weight.
Will you need to use different sized needles to achieve the recommended gauge and will that affect the amount of yarn that you require?
Q: Can I get a refund on a digital pattern download?
A: The simple answer is no. Once you have purchased a pattern PDF you have no way of returning it for a refund. However, if you are not satisfied with an aspect of the pattern because of an error you've spotted or perhaps the colours used or font size are causing you issues, then please contact Pattern Support to discuss these issues so that they can be rectified if appropriate.
Q: I'm based in the EU or Northern Ireland, how does the new EU GPSR legislation affect my ability to buy one of your patterns?
A: On December 13th 2024, the EU's new GPSR legislation came into effect. This has been introduced to ensure safety standards for goods imported into the EU and Northern Ireland (as part of the Brexit deal).
Whilst there is a long list of detailed requirements for businesses that trade physical products within the EU, and for businesses based outside the EU, but export to the EU and Northern Ireland, the guidance regarding digital products such as PDF knitting patterns has not been quite so clear cut.
Therefore, as I am based outside the EU and Northern Ireland, until clear guidance can be obtained and the impact of those requirements can be fully assessed for my business, I have made the decision to no longer offer my patterns to buyers within the EU or Northern Ireland through UK and EU based 3rd party marketplaces such as Payhip. I will, of course, revise this if I am able to do so in the future. However, whilst it is still not my intention to sell to EU or Northern Ireland, my patterns are still available to all through Ravelry where I cannot block sales specific countries. This may change in the future.
If you have any questions about my patterns or my business that I haven't covered here, please do not hesitate to email me.
